Welcome to The Suzannah

You Are Invited:

We warmly invite you to study with us at The Suzannah. We are an inclusive educational space, and we welcome you. Whether if you are a Jew, or not a Jew; if you are a believer, or an atheist; if you are a Zionist, or not - we would love for you to be part of our community. We invite you to contribute your voice and ideas to a critical conversation about Jewish Studies.

Our Vision:

We believe in humanistic, diverse study of Jewish history and culture. Many within our faculty are precariously-employed academics, especially women, and we are grateful to be able to support their intellectual work.

As an independent institute, we consider it our mission to hold the torch of pluralistic education even in these dark times, when academic research and freedom of speech is being threatened in universities. This also means that, at the Suzannah, things do get political. Our curriculum, in-class discussions, and event programing all strive to promote co-existence, equal rights, and safety to both Israel and Palestine; to openly fight the global rise of antisemitism; and to strongly reject war and violence.

We take special pride in supporting the scholarship, literature, and arts of Israelis, and connecting them with new, English-speaking audiences.
